Michael Medina , a biography
www.mikemedina.org

Michael Medina was born in the United States, the eldest son of immigrant families of Colombia, South America, and Ireland. He identified strongly with his Spanish heritage and successfully grew up bilingual and bicultural. It was helpful in this process that his immediate family moved to Puerto Rico in the late 1960s in Mike’s formative years of childhood. This enabled him to be completely bilingual in written and spoken Spanish. They moved back to the United States and settled eventually in Tennessee where Mike finished high school, graduating at age 16, and began his university training at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Graduating in 1980 with Honors and a major in Marketing and a minor in International Business, Mike was recruited by a fortune 500 corporation and moved to Jacksonville, Florida. After two years of a successful career in business, he pursued a second bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from a small private college in California while working in the arena of Concert and Theatre Staging, Lighting and Sound in Southern California. There he met his wife to be, Adriana Vergara, from Santaigo, Chile in South America. They were married in November of 1985, and after completing their studies, moved to Santiago, Chile to work with non-profit Christian entities in South America.

As a young man in Latin America, Michael quickly developed his skills as an able communicator as well as a business manager to establish and streamline accounting and management systems for new and existing organizations in 3 cities of Chile, then in 1986 in Argentina where he worked for three and a half years in 5 provinces, being based in Buenos Aires. Their eldest daughter, Liana, was born to them in that city in 1989. In 1991 they moved to Montevideo, Uruguay where their youngest daughter Jennifer was born to them in 1992. Michael continued to assist non-profit Christian entities and founded an educational and cultural based NGO foundation, approved through the Uruguay Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since the founding of the NGO, he has been instrumental in bringing in significant aid for the poor including countless containers of used clothing, furniture, and equipment. This opened the door to work with bureaucrats and government officials to accomplish specific goals. From Uruguay, he traveled and worked extensively throughout Central and South America, mainly in the countries of Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico, but also other nations of the Americas, thereby developing an impressive network of contacts in business, government and non-profits. In 1998, Michael completed two courses of continuing education studies from Harvard University in Strategic Planning, Human Resources and Information Technology with distinguished dean and professors, Michael Shinagel, Robert Befari and Henry Leitner. In 1999, Michael earned a Masters degree (Magister) in Social Communication from Universidad Damaso A. Larrañaga in Montevideo, Uruguay, where he finished 2nd in his class in a program completely conducted in the Spanish language with an strong emphasis on International Public Relations, Organizational Communication and Crisis Communications.

In 2000, Michael moved his family to Dallas, Texas where he established a non-profit corporation and continues to promote and oversee humanitarian projects in Uruguay and different parts of Latin America, as well as among Latin American immigrants in the USA. In 2005 he and his wife, Adriana, began intensive personal studies into the significance of Israel and the Jewish biblical roots as well as the history of the Spanish Jews who were expelled from Spain in 1492. Their lives are now primarily characterized by a passionate pursuit of the purposes of G-d for the restoration of Israel and the prophesied return of the Jewish people to Israel from the West, known as "aliyah". Together, they have spoken in 18 nations on 6 continents.
